In the 1982 Kangaroo tour the Australian team played 22 matches and were undefeated in all of them. The team featured a dynamic five eight from the Guildford Owls who kept Wally Lewis on the bench and later went on to become one of the games immortals, Brett (Burt) Kenny! That unbeatable team was given the title “The Invincibles”.
41 Years later there is a new team that has put in its claim for that title. They are not a national team; they don’t even play full field – but they are no less invincible.
The under 10 Division 1 side from the mighty Owls swept all before them this season. They won every game they played and went back-to-back to claim the minor premiership and the premiership in the Parramatta district competition.
It is difficult to put in context the magnitude of their achievements without looking at the results of each game they played. In the regular season the team averaged 37.3 pts per game while conceding on average 3.3 points. Their points differential was + 408! All season they showed their ability to score points at will however it was their defence that won the games for them.

The table above doesn’t include the results of “training Games” they played against Bankstown sports and others – They won them all, they even beat an U11 team..
The team received multiple nominations for the club’s player of the year awards, deservedly so as it is a team full of stars. The kids benefited from a highly dedicated coaching staff and parent group. The coaches and trainers need to be called out now, whilst they can be, before they fade into the shadows of these future stars. Just as nobody remembers who coached Brett Kenny when he was in U10’s at Guildford, but everybody remembers Brett Kenny there are surely some names in this team list that everybody will soon know and remember! They are the new Invincibles!
