Owls U12 Girls V Devils U12 Girls
Last week 2 emerging girls teams played an amazing game of rugby league. This week at 11.30am the two team will take to the field again for the rematch.
Last time the game ended in a nail bitter. Guildford took the early lead, but the spirited devils fought back to be leading in the second half. The game was played in abnormally hot conditions and both teams were running on empty and relied on nothing more than their grit and their obvious desire to “be there” for their teammates. Both teams were courteous and respectful, yet they played with unrelenting ferocity that you would expect in finals…this was just a trial!
Late in the second half Devils were leading 16-12 they displayed their attacking and defensive ability mixed with composure. With one minute to go the Owls dug deep with a bustling run to find the line on the Devils right edge. 20 seconds left on the clock, and it was 16-16 with a kick to come. The conversion was unsuccessful, and the game ended in a draw – The footy gods agreed with all watching that both teams were winners.
This week both teams are playing each other again at the same place and almost the same time. If you want to see what Junior Rugby league is all about don’t miss the rematch 11:30am at Darling Street Park – Where you will witness the start of a female dominated dynasty from both clubs.
