Social Media & Online Behaviour Code of Conduct

Our Commitment

This Code of Conduct applies to all Parents, Players, and Supporters of the Guildford Owls. It is designed to ensure all our digital interactions reflect the positive, respectful, and inclusive spirit of our club. When you represent the Owls online, you are expected to uphold these standards on all platforms.

Key Principles

Click on each section below to learn about our core rules and expectations.

Upholding a Positive Environment

  • All posts and comments must be respectful and free from bullying, harassment, and negative remarks directed at teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, or officials.
  • Posts and updates must not use offensive, provocative, or hateful language.

  • Avoid engaging in or contributing to any form of online abuse or conflict. We are a unified club both on and off the field.

Representing the Owls with Pride

  • Any social media activity that could harm the reputation of the Guildford Owls, our players, or our sponsors is strictly prohibited.

  • Posts must not be misleading, false, or injure the reputation of another person.

  • The Guildford Owls club logo may not be used in any social media post without prior written permission from the Executive Committee.

Maintaining High Standards

  • Content should always promote the sport in a positive way.

  • Posts containing music with profanity, or featuring individuals speaking with profanity, are strictly prohibited.

  • Content must be appropriate for all ages. Any post that is violent, sexually explicit, or offensive in nature is not permitted.

  • Posts that celebrate “Big Hits” or aggressive, dangerous plays are strictly prohibited. We promote a culture of safe and fair play.

Protecting Our Community

  • It is a requirement of the NRL and NSWRL that permission is obtained before posting pictures of children who are not your own.

  • Please be aware that consent is required from the parents or guardians of any child pictured in a post.

  • Do not post private information about another person without their explicit consent.

Handling of Game Recordings

  • All recorded games must be shared privately. The link or invitation to view the content must not be publicly accessible.

  • VEO footage is for training purposes only. Any posting of video or still captured images from VEO is a breach of this code of conduct.

Share Your Positive News !

Our club has a dedicated digital media team to manage our official social channels. If you have positive news, photos, or stories you’d like to see shared with the Owls community, please contact our team directly. This helps us ensure all official posts are professional and aligned with our club values.

One Strike Policy

There will be no warnings.

It is club policy that suspended players are excluded from training, playing, or accessing any field where the Owls are training or playing.

Further consequences may include:

  • Longer suspensions from the club.
  • Ineligibility for club awards or development teams.
  • Expulsion from the club.
